Governing text · Meng: Six at the beginning

Text發蒙,利用刑人,用說桎梏,以往吝。Opening up the ignorant. It is favorable to use punishment, and then to take off the shackles. To go on that way brings humiliation.

In plain wordsIn opening the mind of someone ignorant, punish when punishment is due; after punishing, ease off a little and see how he does afterward. Keep punishing without ever letting go, and you will be left with regrets. It is so in teaching people, and the same in handling anything.

Now
You are at the stage of having no experience and not knowing where the door is, like a spring that has just welled up at the foot of a mountain and doesn't yet know which way to flow.
The key
Only one line is changing: Six at the beginning. The answer is in that line. There is some risk, or some regret left over, but nothing serious. Notice it early, correct it early, and things turn for the better.
Where it is heading
Things are moving toward Sun (Decrease): Giving something up, cutting back a little, is worth it now.
What to do
Sincerely seek out someone who understands and ask. Ask once, listen carefully, and do as you are told. Don't keep asking about the same thing over and over until you get the answer you want.
