Kun, six in the third placeHexagram 2, line 3 · Kun (Earth) · changing to 15
The line
In plain wordsYou have talent but keep it in rather than showing it, and you can hold to that. If you do go out and work for someone, don't grab the credit. At the start no results will show, but in the end it turns out well.
The Image commentary on this line
含章可貞,以時發也。或從王事,知光大也。
"Brilliance held within; one can stay true": it comes out when the time is right. "If you serve in the king's affairs": the wisdom is bright and great.
The small Image commentary is the earliest explanation of the line texts. It usually explains a line from its position: where it stands, whether it holds the center, and which line answers it.
Verdict
平Neutral. The text gives no verdict, only an image. Ask what in your situation the image resembles. The answer is there.

Asking about work, love or money
- Work
- You have ability, but don't rush to show it; save it for when it is needed. When you work for someone else, see the job through and don't grab the credit. Nothing will show at first, but in the end it turns out well.
- Love
- You don't have to put all your good qualities on display at once; let the other person discover them slowly. Give more and claim less credit. It doesn't matter if nothing shows for a while; over time, what is good cannot stay hidden.
- Money
- When you handle things for others or work with partners, do your own part well first, and don't hurry to divide the credit or count the returns. Little may come in at first, but see it through and the result will not be bad.
This is how to read it when this is the only changing line. With several changing lines, first see which text governs; for the hexagram as a whole, see Kun.
Line position
A yin line in a yang place: it is not in its proper place. Its partner is the top line, which is also yin, so there is no answer from it.
Third place: the top of the lower trigram, a place of risk. A moment of transition. Be on guard.
When you get this line
If this is the only changing line in your cast (three inscribed sides, old yin), this line is your answer. The primary hexagram is Kun (Earth); when this line changes it becomes Qian (Humility): hexagram 2 changing to 15.
