三錢六擲泰Cast简繁

Tai, nine in the second placeHexagram 11, line 2 · Tai (Peace) · changing to 36

The line

Text包荒,用馮河,不遐遺,朋亡,得尚于中行。Bearing with the wasteland, fording the river on foot, not leaving out the distant, letting factions fall away: so one comes to match the middle way.

In plain wordsAble to bear with what is rough and foul, daring to wade across the river on foot, not forgetting those far away, and not forming little cliques — only so do you accord with the middle way. Generosity, decisiveness, thoroughness and selflessness: you need all four.

The Image commentary on this line

包荒,得尚于中行,以光大也。

"Bearing with the wasteland" and coming "to match the middle way": because it is bright and great.

The small Image commentary is the earliest explanation of the line texts. It usually explains a line from its position: where it stands, whether it holds the center, and which line answers it.

Verdict

吉Favorable. The text gives no verdict, but the picture it paints is a hopeful one. Act the way it describes and there will be something to gain.

Asking about work, love or money

Work
When you lead others, bear with people's flaws, make the call when it has to be made, don't leave out those who are far away or easy to overlook, and don't build a clique of your own. Generous yet decisive, you are on the right road.
Love
Accept the other person's imperfections, and don't drag your feet when a decision is needed. Look after the people in their life, near and far, and don't listen only to your own small circle; that is how love stays on the right path.
Money
In business, keep a generous heart and let small losses and small faults go; when it is time to act, act decisively. Look after old customers and distant partners, and don't share the profits only with your own people; that is how the road keeps widening.

This is how to read it when this is the only changing line. With several changing lines, first see which text governs; for the hexagram as a whole, see Tai.

Line position

A yang line in a yin place: it is not in its proper place; it holds the center of its trigram. Its partner is the fifth line, which is its opposite, so the two answer each other.

Second place: the center of the lower trigram, a place of praise. Stay centered and yielding.
