三錢六擲泰Cast简繁

Tai, six in the fourth placeHexagram 11, line 4 · Tai (Peace) · changing to 34

The line

Text翩翩,不富以其鄰,不戒以孚。Fluttering down. Without wealth, yet carrying the neighbors along. Without being called, yet trusting.

In plain wordsThose few above come drifting lightly down together. The good times have gone too far, and the wrong people arrive in a group without needing to be called — be on your guard.

The Image commentary on this line

翩翩不富,皆失實也。不戒以孚,中心願也。

"Fluttering down. Without wealth": all have lost what is solid. "Without being called, yet trusting": it is what they wish in the center of the heart.

The small Image commentary is the earliest explanation of the line texts. It usually explains a line from its position: where it stands, whether it holds the center, and which line answers it.

Verdict

慎Proceed with care. The text gives no verdict, but the picture holds an obstacle and a warning. Slow down and watch the point it warns about.

Asking about work, love or money

Work
Things have gone too well, and the wrong people are turning up uninvited, arriving in groups and saying all the right things. Be careful: don't hand over work or positions just because these people are eager and came so easily.
Love
When life is going too smoothly, the wrong people are the most likely to show up uninvited, and they come in groups. Be wary of closeness that comes too easily; don't open your heart lightly, and don't let outsiders stir themselves into your love life.
Money
When you have plenty, all sorts of people and so-called great opportunities come knocking together, without being asked. The easier and livelier they come, the harder you should look; don't hand your money over lightly.

This is how to read it when this is the only changing line. With several changing lines, first see which text governs; for the hexagram as a whole, see Tai.

Line position

A yin line in a yin place: it is in its proper place. Its partner is the first line, which is its opposite, so the two answer each other.

Fourth place: next to the ruler, a place of caution. Serve those above with care.
