The line
In plain wordsYour reputation for humility is widely known, and you may send out the army — but it is only fit for putting your own territory in order, not for going outward.

鳴謙,志未得也。可用行師,征邑國也。
"Humility that sounds forth": the purpose is not yet attained. One may "move the army": to march on one's own towns and domain.
The small Image commentary is the earliest explanation of the line texts. It usually explains a line from its position: where it stands, whether it holds the center, and which line answers it.

Asking about work, love or money
- Work
- Your reputation for humility is known, and people listen when you speak, so you can set about putting some things in order. Just use that strength within your own reach: straighten out your own team and your own way of working, and don't reach outward.
- Love
- Everyone can see your gentleness, yet you have not gotten what you want. What needs changing now starts with you: sort out your own temper and habits, and don't think about bringing the other person into line.
- Money
- You have a good name and people trust you, but don't use that to expand outward. Put your effort into sorting out your own accounts and spending and getting your own house in order, and you will not go wrong.
This is how to read it when this is the only changing line. With several changing lines, first see which text governs; for the hexagram as a whole, see Qian.
Line position
A yin line in a yin place: it is in its proper place. Its partner is the third line, which is its opposite, so the two answer each other.
Top place: the end of the matter. What reaches its limit turns. Know when to stop.
When you get this line
