三錢六擲夬Cast简繁

Guai, nine in the third placeHexagram 43, line 3 · Guai (Resolution) · changing to 58

The line

Text壯于頄,有凶。君子夬夬獨行,遇雨若濡,有慍,无咎。Strength in the cheekbones: there is misfortune. The noble one, utterly resolved, walks alone, meets rain and is as if soaked; there is resentment. No blame.

In plain wordsThe anger is written all over your face: misfortune. The noble one is resolute within and goes on alone; even if rained on along the way and soaked through, misunderstood and resented by companions, in the end there is no blame.

The Image commentary on this line

君子夬夬,終无咎也。

"The noble one, utterly resolved": in the end there is no blame.

The small Image commentary is the earliest explanation of the line texts. It usually explains a line from its position: where it stands, whether it holds the center, and which line answers it.

Verdict

慎Proceed with care. The text speaks of misfortune and also says it can be avoided. The danger lies in rushing and forcing. Stay steady, correct mistakes, and the bad outcome can be escaped.

  • 无咎 no blame: no fault attaches, often because a mistake is corrected in time
  • 凶 misfortune: a bad outcome if you continue this way

Asking about work, love or money

Work
Once your mind is made up, don't let the anger show on your face; that only invites trouble. Carry out the decision that needs making, even if you carry it alone; if colleagues misunderstand or resent you for a while, bear it, and in the end you are not in the wrong.
Love
Wearing your anger on your face only turns things sour. If you know clearly what to do, do it quietly; even if you are misunderstood or blamed for a while, don't rush to argue your case, because standing upright is enough.
Money
When you settle accounts with someone or cut off a dealing that should never have been, don't lose your temper and don't fall out. Once you have decided, see it through yourself; even if you take a small loss or some resentment along the way, in the end it is no mistake.

This is how to read it when this is the only changing line. With several changing lines, first see which text governs; for the hexagram as a whole, see Guai.

Line position

A yang line in a yang place: it is in its proper place. Its partner is the top line, which is its opposite, so the two answer each other.

Third place: the top of the lower trigram, a place of risk. A moment of transition. Be on guard.
