Fu, six in the third placeHexagram 24, line 3 · Fu (Return) · changing to 36
The line
In plain wordsGoing wrong time after time, turning back time after time. You keep making mistakes, so it is dangerous; but each time you are willing to come back, so there is no blame.
The Image commentary on this line
頻復之厲,義无咎也。
The danger of "returning again and again": by its meaning there is no blame.
The small Image commentary is the earliest explanation of the line texts. It usually explains a line from its position: where it stands, whether it holds the center, and which line answers it.
Verdict
慎Proceed with care. There is some risk, or some regret left over, but nothing serious. Notice it early, correct it early, and things turn for the better.

Asking about work, love or money
- Work
- You make the same mistake, fix it, then make it again. That is dangerous, and other people's patience has limits. Being willing to turn back is right, but find out why you keep getting it wrong, and don't circle back again.
- Love
- The two of you keep fighting and making up and fighting again, or you keep making the same mistake. It is good that you come back each time, but this back-and-forth wounds people. Be careful, find the root, and fix it.
- Money
- The old habit keeps coming back after you fix it: you save and then spend, promise not to splurge and then can't resist. Going back and forth like this is dangerous. As long as you turn back each time there is still hope, but set yourself firm rules so it doesn't happen again.
This is how to read it when this is the only changing line. With several changing lines, first see which text governs; for the hexagram as a whole, see Fu.
Line position
A yin line in a yang place: it is not in its proper place. Its partner is the top line, which is also yin, so there is no answer from it.
Third place: the top of the lower trigram, a place of risk. A moment of transition. Be on guard.
When you get this line
If this is the only changing line in your cast (three inscribed sides, old yin), this line is your answer. The primary hexagram is Fu (Return); when this line changes it becomes Mingyi (Darkened Light): hexagram 24 changing to 36.
