Wuwang, six in the third placeHexagram 25, line 3 · Wuwang (Innocence) · changing to 13
The line
In plain wordsYou did nothing wrong, yet disaster strikes: someone tied an ox by the road, a passerby walked off with it, and it is the people living in the village who get questioned and investigated. An undeserved calamity.
The Image commentary on this line
行人得牛,邑人災也。
The passerby gets the ox: this is "the villager's calamity".
The small Image commentary is the earliest explanation of the line texts. It usually explains a line from its position: where it stands, whether it holds the center, and which line answers it.
Verdict
止Hold back. This text describes a bad outcome. Carry on as you are and you will lose by it. Stop, step aside or change your approach. Do not force it.

Asking about work, love or money
- Work
- The trouble is not of your making, but it may land on you anyway. Don't put yourself forward now, and don't get mixed up in other people's business. Look after your own patch, and hold off on anything new.
- Love
- You have done nothing wrong, yet you may get caught up in someone else's trouble. Stay out of it, and don't take it out on the other person. Stop for now, and make no big decisions for the time being.
- Money
- Someone else gets the gain, and the loss may be charged to you. Don't guarantee anyone's debts, and don't leave valuables lying around. If you do take a loss, accept it and leave it there; don't sink deeper trying to win it back.
This is how to read it when this is the only changing line. With several changing lines, first see which text governs; for the hexagram as a whole, see Wuwang.
Line position
A yin line in a yang place: it is not in its proper place. Its partner is the top line, which is its opposite, so the two answer each other.
Third place: the top of the lower trigram, a place of risk. A moment of transition. Be on guard.
When you get this line
If this is the only changing line in your cast (three inscribed sides, old yin), this line is your answer. The primary hexagram is Wuwang (Innocence); when this line changes it becomes Tongren (Fellowship): hexagram 25 changing to 13.
