Bo, six in the fifth placeHexagram 23, line 5 · Bo (Splitting Apart) · changing to 20
The line
In plain wordsLike fish threaded on a line, leading the women of the palace in order to receive the ruler's favor. Bringing your own kind along to submit to the right way: nothing that is not favorable.
The Image commentary on this line
以宮人寵,終无尤也。
"Leading the palace ladies to receive favor": in the end there is no reproach.
The small Image commentary is the earliest explanation of the line texts. It usually explains a line from its position: where it stands, whether it holds the center, and which line answers it.
Verdict

Asking about work, love or money
- Work
- You are the one at the head of a group, so lead everyone in good order to follow someone upright and capable, and stop undermining things. If you are willing to turn around like this, nothing is unfavorable.
- Love
- Stop competing with the other person over who comes out on top. Sort out what is between you one thing at a time and willingly go the right way together; then nothing in the relationship goes against you.
- Money
- Bring your family or partners along, and put the money in order step by step and by the rules; follow a proper plan together instead of each doing as they please. Do this and nothing is unfavorable.
This is how to read it when this is the only changing line. With several changing lines, first see which text governs; for the hexagram as a whole, see Bo.
Line position
A yin line in a yang place: it is not in its proper place; it holds the center of its trigram. Its partner is the second line, which is also yin, so there is no answer from it.
Fifth place: the center of the upper trigram, the ruler's seat, a place of achievement. This is where things are decided.
When you get this line
If this is the only changing line in your cast (three inscribed sides, old yin), this line is your answer. The primary hexagram is Bo (Splitting Apart); when this line changes it becomes Guan (Contemplation): hexagram 23 changing to 20.
